Another round of snow for winter-weary Midwest, Northeast

CHICAGO, March 12 (UPI) -- More snow fell on parts of the U.S. Midwest and Northeast Wednesday, a day after temperatures in the 80s were recorded in the southern states, forecasters said.

Snow began falling Tuesday night from Missouri to Michigan, with snow reported in downtown Kansas City seven hours after the city recorded a daytime high of 80 degrees, AccuWeather.com reported.

New England braced for blizzard conditions as the storm tracked north and east before reaching Maine and the Canadian province of Nova Scotia, weather forecasters said.

"The taste of spring yesterday is truly in the rear view mirror," the National Weather Service said when posting a winter storm warning for Chicago, which received between three and six inches.

Winds gusts of up to 40 mph were reported overnight at O'Hare and Midway international airports, WGN-TV, Chicago, reported.

As of midday, FlightAware.com reported 1,924 flights delayed across the United States and 1,179 flights canceled.
