'Normal Barbie': Artist to sell realistic doll after crowdfunding campaign

Artist Nickolay Lamm has raised enough money to produce a limited run of realistic-looking "Lammily" dolls.

NEW YORK, March 6 (UPI) -- Would you buy Nickolay Lamm's realistic-looking "Lammily" dolls for your kids?

Last year, the Pittsburgh-based artist used CDC data to create a series of dolls based the average proportions of 19-year-old girls in America.

Lamm launched a crowd-funding site to make his 3D renderings a reality, and has now raised more than the $95,000 he needed to manufacture his first line of "Lammily" dolls.

"Rather than waiting for toy companies to change their designs, let's change them ourselves by creating a fashion doll that promotes realistic beauty standards," Lamm's website says.

Lammily has "minimal makeup," feet that stand flat on the ground, and movable joints.

“I’ll build new clothes and accessories after this crowdfunding,” Lamm told BuzzFeed on Wednesday. “My plan is for Lammily to come in different ethnicities and body shapes. But all future body shapes will be of healthy typical women.”

You can still order your own Lammily doll -- they're expected to come out in November.
