WASHINGTON, March 6 (UPI) -- Business tycoon Donald Trump was speaking at the CPAC conference when he started to remember the "late, great Jimmy Carter," who is still alive.

On the first day of the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, D.C., Donald Trump delivered a wide-ranging speech "off-teleprompter" in which he slammed Obama, and compared the current president's low polling numbers to those of "late, great" former President Jimmy Carter.

"We're getting into Jimmy Carter territory and I never thought I'd live to see anything like that again. I lived through that time and it was not a good time. And we're pretty close," said Trump, "I think by next month we will have surpassed the late, great Jimmy Carter."

Carter is still a proud member of the elite club of living U.S. presidents which also includes George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and current President Barack Obama.
