Body found at foreclosed home may have been there for years

PONTIAC, Mich., March 6 (UPI) -- The mummified remains of a woman in her 40s, found in her car at her Pontiac, Mich., home, may have been there for years, neighbors said Thursday.

The body was found by a contractor working on the foreclosed home Wednesday in the back of a car parked in a garage, WWJ-TV, Detroit, reported.

Neighbors said the woman, described as a German immigrant with no relatives in the area, traveled frequently in her career in the automobile business, often for weeks at a time, so no one was surprised by her absence.

The Oakland Country Sheriff's Department, which is investigating the circumstances of her death, said it could be days before an autopsy can be performed because the remains are frozen to the vehicle.
