ST. LOUIS, Feb. 28 (UPI) -- Two St. Louis teenagers were arrested for animal abuse after a video of one of them abusing a dog went viral on Facebook, police said.

The video was posted to Facebook Tuesday by user Coats Keshawn and shows one teenager slamming the dog into the ground, then repeatedly punching it, KTVI-TV, St. Louis, reported. The other teen is heard laughing off camera.

The video has been shared more than 2,000 times on Facebook.

Police said they arrested the teen seen in the video and the teen who recorded the beating. Both have been charged with animal abuse.

The dog, which is about 6 to 7 months old, was seized by animal control and will be examined and treated for any injuries, then put up for adoption.
