WASHINGTON, Feb. 27 (UPI) -- U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder was taken to the hospital for evaluation Thursday morning after experiencing faintness and shortness of breath.

Justice Department officials said Holder was in his regular morning meeting when he began experiencing symptoms and was taken to MedStar Washington Hospital Center by his security detail, not in an ambulance.

Hospital officials said the attorney general was alert and speaking with doctors. Holder, 63, is an avid basketball player and has been in good health.

He was scheduled to attend an even with President Barack Obama at the White House later Thursday.
