DENVER, Feb. 27 (UPI) -- After a pair of men robbed a Wells Fargo Bank in Denver back on Jan. 21, the establishment has elected to offer a $50,000 reward for information leading to their arrest.
The FBI has taken to calling the duo the “Trash Talking Bandits” because they were aggressive and verbally abusive when they robbed the bank. During the robbery, the bandits used handguns and several bank employees had gun barrels pressed directly to their heads.
“They were very knowledgeable of what they were doing. They had an understanding of how to get into the vault,” FBI spokesman Dave Joly told CBS Denver.
The FBI won’t disclose how much the men got away with, but they did say the “bank robbery is the largest in recent Colorado history.”
Half of the stolen cash was recovered when private attorney Michael Pellow contacted the FBI and handed them a green “Sportsman’s Dry Box” filled with money.
“The attorney won’t tell us where he got the cash but he said his client asked him to provide it to law enforcement,” said Joly. “If anyone has mentioned this attorney’s name. If they have a relationship with him we’d like them to come forward.”
