Bail hearing delayed for man charged in Las Vegas pet shop fire

LAS VEGAS, Feb. 21 (UPI) -- A bail hearing for a man accused of setting fire to a pet shop, almost killing 27 puppies, has been delayed until next week, a Nevada judge said Friday.

An attorney representing Kirk Bills at the hearing asked a Las Vegas judge for the delay so he could work out details of the case with his client, the Las Vegas Sun reported.

Bills, 27, and pet store owner Gloria Eun Hye Lee, 35, face several charges in the Jan. 27 fire, including first-degree arson, animal cruelty and burglary.

The fire was put out by the store's sprinkler system and firefighters rescued the puppies.

Bills was arrested Feb. 7 in Indiana and booked into the Clark County jail Wednesday.

Lee remains jailed in lieu of $310,000 bond.

There was no word on why the suspects allegedly set the fire.
