Americans' least-favorable country is now North Korea

PRINCETON, N.J., Feb. 21 (UPI) -- Americans rate North Korea as the world's least favorable country, a poll released Friday indicated, narrowly replacing Iran at the bottom of a 22-nation list.

The 2014 Gallup World Affairs poll found only 11 percent of Americans have a favorable opinion of North Korea and 12 percent view Iran favorably. Iran's rating us up from 9 percent in 2013.

North Korea's favorability rating has not exceeded 15 percent since 2002, but 2014 is the first time since 2004 it placed at the bottom of the survey. It now trails Iran, Syria at 13 percent and Afghanistan at 14 percent.

The poll was based on telephone interviews conducted Feb. 6-9 with a random sample of 1,023 adults living in the United States. The margin of sampling error was plus or minus 4 percentage points.
