Bits of broken plate in mashed potatoes lead to Oregon lawsuit

PORTLAND, Ore., Feb. 19 (UPI) -- A man claims he broke two teeth chewing porcelain from a broken plate while eating mashed potatoes in a Portland, Ore., Outback Steakhouse.

Roger Bransetter, in a lawsuit seeking $48,000, said he cracked two molars at the restaurant in 2012 and later require dental implants to replace the teeth, the (Portland) Oregonian reported Wednesday.

The suit, filed in Multnomah County Circuit Court on Friday, says restaurant managers admitted "that a plate had broken in the kitchen and that pieces had fallen into the mashed potatoes."

It faults the restaurant owners, Evergreen Restaurant Group, for failing to warn customers of the potential hazards in the mashed potatoes, and for failing to discard the food after the dish shattered.
