FRESNO, Calif., Feb. 17 (UPI) -- Two California Highway Patrol officers were killed Monday morning near Fresno when their patrol car crashed on the way to an accident, police said.

"It looks like they struck a pole," said CHP officer Axel Reyes.

The unidentified male victims were proceeding to the site of a road accident when their vehicle overturned on Highway 99 in Kingsburg, Calif., the Los Angeles Times reported Monday.

The officers' car was part of a chain-reaction crash that involved several vehicles, KCRA-TV, Sacramento, said. No other injuries were reported.
