After their silver 2003 Ford Explorer that got stuck in a snowbank southeast of Boise, the families walked about 19 miles until they found an occupied cabin in Prairie, said Lynn Hightower, Boise police spokeswoman.

"An officer talked with one of the dads [and] at about 8 this morning they started walking approximately 19 miles, found a cabin in Prairie and called their families," Hightower said. "The cabin was occupied. They called from a land line. ... They did not need medical attention. [It was] a very happy ending."

"2 dads, 3 kids tired but OK after (they were) stuck in a snowbank overnight," Boise police wrote on their Twitter feed at 6 p.m. Sunday. "They got stuck in snow, [and] walked to a house in Prairie for help."
