Washington police issue Amber Alert for sick 17-day-old 'Baby Doe'

EVERETT, Wash., Feb. 14 (UPI) -- A newborn possibly suffering from neglect and medical issues was being sought by police in Washington state, who said the mother was ordered to give up custody.

The 17-day-old infant, identified only as "Baby Doe," has "potentially severe medical issues due to [the] mother's drug use and is possibly being neglected," Everett police said in a Amber Alert issued late Thursday.

The mother, Roshell Turner, 31, was described as "a heavy meth user" and was believed to be hiding in the South Everett area with her boyfriend, a Hispanic man known only by his nickname, "Guero."

Everett police said in a statement that child protection officials believed the child to be "in grave danger and needs immediate medical attention," NBC News reported.

Snohomish County Superior Court has ordered the child taken into custody, the alert said.

Police described Turner as white, 5-foot-5, 190 pounds with brown eyes and red hair. Her right chest bears a rose tattoo.

Anyone with information was asked to call the Everett police at 425-407-3970.
