CRESTED BUTTE, Colo., Feb. 11 (UPI) -- A snowmobiler died in an avalanche near Crested Butte, Colo., and search teams sought a missing skier in a second avalanche in Summit County, Colo.
The avalanche Monday at Kebler Pass, near Crested Butte, buried two unidentified snowmobilers, one of whom survived, KDVR-TV, Denver, reported Tuesday.
The slide was 500- to 600 feet wide and more than 3 feet deep, the Colorado Avalanche Information Center said, adding an avalanche warning was issued across central and northern Colorado.
Near the Keystone Ski Resort in central Colorado's Summit County, search teams with dogs continue to seek an unidentified missing skier after an avalanche Monday left a debris field of 2,000 feet in length and depths up to 9 feet, the Summit County Sheriff's Office said.
One man caught in the slide was able to dig himself out, but was unable to find the man with whom he was skiing, KMGH-TV, Denver, reported Tuesday.
