Conservative PAC opens dump Boehner campaign

WASHINGTON, Feb. 11 (UPI) -- A political action committee has begun a petition drive to replace U.S. House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, accusing him of helping enact a "liberal agenda."

After the House voted Tuesday to raise the federal debt limit with no conditions attached, the Senate Conservatives Fund said in an online post congressional Republicans have given up fighting for conservative issues "because they know that winning is impossible when their leaders are determined to lose. These leaders have telegraphed weakness to the Democrats and sabotaged conservative efforts so many times that Republicans now have no leverage."

The PAC said the only solution is to replace Boehner.

"Conservatives helped Republicans win a majority in the House of Representatives, which made it possible for John Boehner to become Speaker," the post said. "Unfortunately, he has chosen to ignore us and help President Obama enact his liberal agenda.

"Instead of using Republican control of the House to stop bad legislation, Speaker Boehner has used it to increase spending, raise the debt limit, increase taxes, pass a bloated farm bill, and fund the implementation of Obamacare," the post said. "Instead of fighting for conservative principles, Speaker Boehner has completely surrendered to the Democrats."

The House voted 221-201 Tuesday to raise the federal debt limit, with just 28 Republicans voting with Democrats in support of the measure.

The petition to dump Boehner comes a week after another conservative group, ForAmerica, initiated a "Dump the Leadership" drive, The Hill noted.
