Dad killed child, fed her to dog in 2006, mother claims

NEW YORK, Feb. 10 (UPI) -- A girl, 2, was killed by her father in 2006, then dismembered and fed to a dog, New York City police attempting to close the case charged in court filings.

City social workers discovered in 2011 Serenity Brown, listed as receiving public assistance in Brooklyn, was missing, and during the investigation her mother, Paula Johnson, explained the girl's disappearance, the New York Daily News said Monday.

Johnson, 35, claimed in Administration for Children's Services records the child's father, Edward Brown, 34, enraged by the girl's laughter, punched her in the chest, placed her in a bathtub, stabbed her repeatedly and fed her body in parts to his pit bull, after which he shot and killed the dog.

Brown was jailed for armed robbery in 2000 and released a year later.

The investigation was delayed until 2011 when the social workers realized the girl was missing. By that time her parents were no longer together, the newspaper said.
