25 hurt in tour bus crash in Pennsylvania

Feb. 10, 2014 at 12:52 AM

CENTERVILLE, Pa., Feb. 10 (UPI) -- A casino tour bus crashed on a snow-covered highway near Centerville, Pa., Sunday afternoon, injuring at least 25 of its 34 passengers, authorities said.

The accident closed Route 220 about 6 miles north of the Maryland line for a time, the (Johnstown) Tribune-Democrat reported.

The Pennsylvania State Police in Bedford said it appeared the bus, which was headed to the Rocky Gap Casino, was traveling too fast for road conditions when it veered out of control and struck an embankment, the newspaper said.

None of the injuries was serious, officials at hospitals where the victims were treated said.

The Freedom Excursions tour bus driver was identified as Terrence Harold Shultz, 65, of Altoona.
