TORRANCE, Calif., Feb. 5 (UPI) -- A California woman who drove for more than 2 miles with a struck pedestrian attached to her windshield was found guilty of murder, court records said.

Sherri Lynn Wilkins, 52, a former substance abuse counselor, was convicted in a Torrance, Calif., court Tuesday of second-degree murder, drunken driving and hit-and-run, KTLA-TV, Los Angeles, reported Wednesday.

Prosecutors said her blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit for driving when she struck Philip Moreno, 31, in November 2012, and kept driving for 2.3 miles with Moreno lodged on her car's windshield. She did not stop until witnesses surrounded her car until police arrived. Moreno later died in a hospital.

Wilkins' sentencing hearing is scheduled for Mar. 26, KABC-TV, Los Angeles, said.
