Nurse, 51, arrives for work at Illinois hospital, killed by snowplow

BARRINGTON, Ill., Feb. 5 (UPI) -- A 51-year-old nurse was killed early Wednesday when a snowplow in a Barrington, Ill., hospital parking lot struck her, police said.

Diane Shogren of Ingleside was pronounced dead inside Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital's emergency room about 6 a.m., a half-hour after she had arrived for work and parked her car, WLS-TV, Chicago, reported.

A 2012 Ford F-450 truck with a snowplow attachment was moving in reverse when the driver struck Shogren.

The sheriff's department said heavy snow and limited visibility were factors in the accident, though the truck's amber lights, reverse lights and backup alarm were in working order.
