Unrelated shootings at Michigan universities leave 1 dead, 2 injured

LANSING, Mich., Feb. 2 (UPI) -- Two separate shootings near Michigan university campuses left one student dead and two others injured, officials said.

Two students were shot at an off-campus apartment near Michigan State University in East Lansing Friday, CNN reported.

Dominique James Nolff, 20, of Middleville, Mich., died Saturday of wounds he suffered in the shooting, police said. An unnamed 20-year-old Michigan State student was also shot, but has since been released from the hospital.

Police said the shooting did not appear to have been random.

Another student was shot at an off-campus apartment near Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Mich., early Saturday. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment and later released.

Police said they had arrested a suspect in the Ferris State shooting.
