Car plows into pedestrians in Florida, killing three, injuring five

BRADENTON, Fla., Feb. 2 (UPI) -- A woman backed a car into several pedestrians outside a Florida country club Sunday, killing three and injuring five before stopping in a creek, polices said.

The incident occurred outside the Sugar Creek Country Club in Bradenton were church-goers had just attended an 11 a.m. EST service, the Sarasota Herald-Tribune

"I heard the screams," nearby resident Jan Dole said.

"There were people lying on the ground. Nobody could do anything because they all had head injuries."

The Florida Highway Patrol said a woman in a car parked in front of the clubhouse had backed into the pedestrians. The unidentified driver and a male passenger were not injured, the newspaper said.
