ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich., Feb. 1 (UPI) -- A Michigan woman was in custody Saturday, suspected in the death of her 32-year-old son, whose body parts were found in bags tossed from a car, police said.

The 59-year-old St. Clair Shores woman, whose name had not been released, was being held at the St. Clair Shores Police Department pending arraignment, the Times Herald of Port Huron reported.

The victim, who also had not been named, had been reported missing Sunday. His body parts were found along roads in China and St. Clair townships.

St. Clair Shores Police Sgt. Jay Cohoe confirmed the suspect is the victim's mother. Macomb County prosecutors are to consider bringing murder and dismemberment against her Monday, he said.

Investigators searched to residences and the state police crime lab was assisting in processing evidence collected, the newspaper said.

The bags containing the body parts were discovered Thursday after a witness told police they saw the woman, described as middle-age, driving a late-1990s gray or tan sport utility vehicle throwing what appeared to be trash out the window of the vehicle along Fred Moore Highway and Trumble Road, the newspaper said.
