CYPRESS, Texas, Jan. 31 (UPI) -- Four people were found dead inside a home in Cypress, Texas, sheriff's deputies said.

Deputies went to check on the family after they were contacted by a family friend, and found the bodies at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, the Houston Chronicle reported.

Authorities are not releasing the identities of the victims.

"It is believed to be a family," Capt. Rolf Nelson said. "One of the adults had not come to work in a couple of days."

Nelson would not comment on whether there was evidence of weapon or forced entry.

The investigation is ongoing and the cause of death is not known, the Harris County Sheriff's Office said in a release.
