2 firefighters killed in Toledo, Ohio, apartment complex blaze

TOLEDO, Ohio, Jan. 26 (UPI) -- Two firefighters were killed Sunday in a fire at an apartment building in Toledo, Ohio, city officials said.

The victims were removed from the building, at Huron and Magnolia streets, at about 3:30 p.m. and transported to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center. Lucas County deputy coroner told the Toledo Blade the deaths were reported at about 6 p.m.

"Everyone is just numb right now," Toledo Firefighters Local 92 Vice President Dan Desmond said.

Autopsies were scheduled for Monday.

Fire investigators were on the scene.
