GLENDALE, Ariz., Jan. 23 (UPI) -- A 16-year-old Arizona girl will be tried as an adult in the strangulation death of her 43-year-old boyfriend during sexual activities, authorities said.
Jessica Burlew, who was arrested Saturday in Glendale, Ariz., faces charges of second-degree murder in the death of Jason Ash, the Arizona Republic, Phoenix, reported.
Police said Burlew and Ash were engaged in sexual activities Saturday afternoon when the suspect choked the victim with an electrical cord, causing him to pass out.
Burlew told police she then cut Ash with a razor to get him to respond. She then cut him several more times to relieve her own stress, police documents show.
The suspect then called her mother, Tracey Woodside, who arrived at the scene to find Ash dead on the bed, fully clothed with unbuttoned pants, the documents said.
Woodside called police from a neighbor's home, then returned to the apartment and performed CPR on Ash until police arrived.
Burlew, who left the apartment before police arrived, later returned and gave the name "Xenia Mex," the documents said.
She was arrested at the scene.
