BUTNER, N.C., Jan. 22 (UPI) -- Bernie Madoff, the investment guru convicted of running the largest Ponzi scheme in U.S. history, confirmed he had a heart attack while in prison.

CNBC reported the attack Tuesday, saying Madoff had spent time at Duke University Medical Center but has since been returned to a medium-security federal prison in Butner, N.C., where he is serving a 150 year sentence.
