Man found guilty for not disclosing HIV status in sex with woman

JONESBORO, Ga., Jan. 21 (UPI) -- A man was convicted in Clayton County, Ga., of not disclosing his HIV status after engaging in sex four times with a woman, court records said.

Craig Davis was found guilty on two counts of HIV-reckless conduct. Ronita McAfee said Davis never revealed his HIV status during the times they had sex together.

Davis' attorneys claimed in court he did not have the human immunodeficiency virus, and was misdiagnosed because he had taken crack cocaine before he was initially treated by doctors. Prosecutors noted Davis takes anti-viral medication and is being treated for HIV, WSB-TV, Atlanta, reported.

McAfee said she did not contract the virus.

Another unidentified woman said she contracted the virus from Davis after sex with him, and Davis faces similar charges in Fulton County in connection with her case, WSB-TV said.
