WASHINGTON, Jan. 19 (UPI) -- U.S. first lady Michelle Obama's 50th birthday party was an A-list affair with Beyonce and Stevie Wonder providing the musical vibe, guests said Sunday.

Beyonce sang "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" and "To the Left," and Wonder performed "Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours" and "Do I Do." John Legend sang "Happy Birthday" to the first lady.

The first lady, wearing a red blouse and pants, spent a good part of the evening dancing, party-goers told the Chicago Tribune.

She "seemed very comfortable and happy. Very celebratory," one source said. "It was such a fun, fun party."

Among the movers-and-shakers from the entertainment, sports, political and corporate worlds who converged on the White House for the bash were entertainers Paul McCartney, Jennifer Hudson, Janelle Monae, Kal Penn, Al Roker and Ashley Judd; former star athletes Magic Johnson, Michelle Kwan and Billie Jean King; politicos Vice President Joe Biden, Bill and Hillary Clinton, and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi; and Facebook Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg, the Tribune's sources said.

President Barack Obama, first daughters Malia and Sasha, and the first lady's mother, Marian Robinson, took part in the festivities, as well, the newspaper said. The president said a few words to the part-goers, saying Michelle Obama is a great mother and wife, and that she has made him a better person, the sources said.

The party, which began Saturday night, didn't end until after 3 a.m. Sunday, the sources said.
