GERMANTOWN, Md., Jan. 18 (UPI) -- A Maryland mother and a second woman allegedly stabbed two children to death and injured two others, possibly during an exorcism, investigators said Saturday.

WJZ-TV, Baltimore, reported the mother, Zakieya Latrice Avery, 28, of Germantown, is charged with murder and attempted murder. The second woman arrested Saturday afternoon, Monifa Denise Sanford, 21, faces similar charges, the TV station said.

Montgomery County police found the bodies of a boy, Norell Harris, 1, and a girl, Zyana Harris, 2, and two other children, ages 5 and 8, severely injured in a Germantown home early Friday morning.

Investigators said the toddlers were stabbed to death, and said Avery and Sanford believed they were performing an exorcism.
