Killer who mailed himself evidence pleads guilty

Jan. 16, 2014 at 5:44 PM

MIAMI, Jan. 16 (UPI) -- A Florida man who mailed himself evidence in the killing of his lover has pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Dwayne Lebarr Jr., 20, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, armed robbery and burglary with a battery charged in court Wednesday that he strangled and beat Craig Douglas Wolfe, 63, in June 2013, the Miami Herald reported.

After the murder Lebarr mailed himself a package containing the bloody clothes police believe he wore during the murder, as well as electronics, including a laptop and camera, he stole from Wolfe. However, the package was intercepted by Miami-Dade detectives.

Lebarr later notified police to report that he found Wolfe's body in his apartment.

Police believe Lebarr mailed the items to himself to conceal the evidence. He was also caught by a neighbor's security camera exiting the apartment shortly after the murder.

Lebarr, of Miami, met Wolfe, a California native, through an online dating website, the news report said.
