Army copter crash kills 1, injures 2

FORT STEWART, Ga., Jan. 16 (UPI) -- One person has died and two others were injured in the crash of a U.S. Army helicopter in Georgia, military officials said.

The aircraft made a "hard landing" at Hunter Army Airfield at Fort Stewart, Ga., Wednesday night, Army officials told WSAV-TV, Savannah, Ga.

The helicopter was with the 3rd Battalion, 160th Special Operations Regiment out of Fort Campbell, Ky.

An Army spokesman, Maj. Allen Hill, told WSAV there was no known mechanical issue.

No other details were available.
