On Jan. 15, 2009, Sullenberger, piloting U.S. Airways Flight 1549, an Airbus A320-214 with 155 people aboard, from New York's LaGuardia Airport to Charlotte, N.C., brought the plane in for an emergency landing in the Hudson River after a flock of geese jammed the plane's engines.
While the press referred to the incident as the "Miracle on the Hudson," Sullenberger has called it "the most harrowing 3 minutes of my life."
A native of Danville, Calif., Sullenberger is not shy about his affinity for New York City, Newsday reported Wednesday.
"Part of my heart will always be in New York because of the wonderful outcome and wonderful welcome I received," he said.
