NEW YORK, Jan. 12 (UPI) -- An employee at a car wash in Brooklyn, N.Y., was killed Sunday when the SUV he was driving came off the rails and went out of control, his coworkers said.

The accident happened in the Crown Heights neighborhood at Atlantic and Bedford avenues at about 3:30 p.m., WABC-TV, New York, reported.

The employee was driving a Cadillac Escalade out of the car wash when it struck another vehicle, sending him flying onto the street, the TV station said.

The SUV hit multiple vehicles before hitting a fire hydrant.
