John Kohler, 42, his children, Ashley Carpenter, 18, and David Carpenter-Kohler, 14, and his girlfriend, Ronda Blankenship, were shot in his apartment in Barberton, which borders Akron, on New Year's Eve.

Blankenship, who was critically injured, was able to call 911: "I'm bleeding everywhere, my boyfriend's here, I've got two kids here. Help -- help. Oh God."

The two teenagers were dead by the time police arrived, while Kohler was taken off life support Friday.

Investigators said the brothers went to the apartment planning to steal drugs and money from Kohler.

Eric Hendon was paroled in June after serving a prison term for attempted murder.
