BALTIMORE, Jan. 2 (UPI) -- A Maryland woman was arrested at a casino for allegedly leaving her 4-year-old daughter alone inside a car for nearly eight hours, police said.

Alicia Denice Brown, 24, was arrested in the parking garage outside the Maryland Live! Casino Tuesday evening and charged with second-degree child abuse, confined unattended child under 8 years old and neglect of a minor for the incident, the Baltimore Sun reported.

Authorities said security workers patrolling the parking lot discovered the girl crying in Brown's vehicle at about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Anne Arundel County police Lt. T.J. Smith said.

Police officers were called to the scene and discovered that Brown had arrived at the casino at 10 a.m., Smith said. It was unclear whether Brown had checked on the girl at any point in the day.

The girl was brought to a local hospital where she was found to be in good health, although she was cold and hungry, Smith said. There were no signs of physical abuse.
