A police report said Vick was pulled over about 2 a.m. Monday for operating with an expired registration. He was at the wheel of a Lexus LX570.

A Forsyth County sheriff's deputy said he smelled marijuana on Vick's breath and that both Vick and his passenger admitted smoking marijuana at Vick's home. Vick was still in custody late Wednesday.

Vick, 29, was a quarterback at Virginia Tech from 2002 to 2005. He was dismissed from the team in 2006.

He was signed by the Miami Dolphins but played only one game.

Vick has a conviction for driving under the influence in Virginia in 2008.

Michael Vick signed with the Eagles after serving a prison term for dogfighting. He previously played with the Atlanta Falcons.
