Six shots were fired Sunday evening inside an Applebee's restaurant in West Jacksonville where about 40 people were dining, Sgt. Shawn Coarsey of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said.
About 20 customers escaped the restaurant by crawling through the kitchen, the Florida Times-Union reported Monday.
Other patrons detained the unidentified shooter until police arrived, Coarsey said.
The teenager, who was eating dinner with the victim and the suspected shooter, cried: "My dad just shot my mom," restaurant patron Sara Phillips said.
The injured woman was taken to a hospital where she died. The man was detained by police, Coarsey said, adding he believes the teenager is the victim's daughter.
