MONTGOMERY, Ala., Dec. 30 (UPI) -- A 25-year-old man has surrendered to Montgomery, Ala., police in the weekend shootings of a rapper and a college student, police say.

Lt. Regina Duckett said Jason McWilliams faces murder charges in the deaths of Glenn Thomas, known as "Doe B," and Kimberle Johnson, a student at Troy University, al.com reported Monday.

The shooting occurred about 1 a.m. Saturday at the Centennial Hill Bar and Grill. Johnson, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene. Thomas, 22, died later at a hospital. Six people were treated for gunshot wounds.

McWilliams turned himself in late Sunday, police said. He is being held without bail.

Investigators said an ongoing dispute between Thomas and McWilliams likely led to the shooting.

Montgomery authorities shut down the club.

A hearing commission of the Alabama ABC Board revoked the liquor license in January of the Rose Supper Club, the name under which the restaurant previously operated, after six people were wounded in an October 2012 shooting.

Current owner Nicole Bankhead said after the latest shooting she does not plan to reopen.
