Coral Springs police records show Corey Marrero of Coral Springs is accused of hitting a parked car Tuesday and then hitting a pedestrian while speeding away from the scene, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported. Police allege Marrero fled the second accident scene as well and was arrested after officers pulled him over and found marijuana in his car, the newspaper said.
A juvenile passenger in Marrero's car also was taken into custody.
The injured pedestrian, Willy Jean, 31, of North Miami, was thrown in the air by the impact. He was recovering from a foot injury and broken right arm.
Marrero is charged with leaving the scene of an accident with injuries, leaving the scene with property damage and a marijuana charge. He was released on $4,000 bond Thursday night, jail records indicated.
