HONOLULU, Dec. 21 (UPI) -- President Obama and his family have landed in Hawaii for a 17-day Christmas vacation, officials say.
They will stay at a luxury resort in the same Honolulu neighborhood they've visited during their five previous vacations, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported Saturday.
Traveling aboard Air Force One, the family, including canines Sunny and Bo, landed at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hick am about 11:40 a.m. Friday.
While the family has no scheduled events, the president may visit the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic, where Michelle Obama's brother, Craig Robinson, is coaching Oregon State University's basketball team, KHOU-TV, Honolulu, reported.
The president and the first lady looked "ready for an island vacation" when they landed in Honolulu, the Wall Street Journal reported.
Obama was in khakis and a blue button-shirt, while Mrs. Obama wore a black, yellow and navy patterned dress.
They were met at the airport by Adm. Samuel Locklear, commander of U.S. Pacific Command, and his wife Pam; Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie; Rep. Tulsi Gabbard; and Kirk Caldwell, the mayor of Honolulu.
