Jerrod Metsker, 24, is charged with murdering Reann Murphy, who went missing from her home in Smithville Saturday evening, WEWS-TV in Cleveland reported.
Her body was found in a dumpster near her mobile home early Sunday morning. Metsker was arrested Sunday afternoon.
Wayne County Sheriff Travis Hutchinson said the girl was last seen alive Saturday at a playground in the trailer park where her family lived, the Wooster (Ohio) Daily Record reported.
She was reported missing at 8:30 p.m. Her body was found in a park dumpster about 1:35 a.m. Sunday.
Metsker, who lived in a mobile home a short distance from the Murphy home, was seen with the girl at the park, the sheriff said. Metsker was reportedly a friend and acquaintance of the family.
