SANTA CLARA, Calif., Dec. 6 (UPI) -- Four people died overnight from hypothermia in Santa Clara County, officials said Friday.

The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner's Office told KNTV-TV, San Francisco, a 10-hour span of freezing temperatures resulted in the deaths of four people, whose identities were not released.

A cold arctic air mass settled over much of the Western United States this week, with a second storm expected to keep temperatures below normal for several days, forecasters said.
