2 children die in southwest Minnesota farmhouse fire

LUCAN, Minn., Dec. 5 (UPI) -- The bodies of two children were recovered from the scene of a fire at a two-story farmhouse in southwestern Minnesota, police said Thursday.

The Lucan, Minn., homeowners reported the fire at 2:35 p.m. Wednesday. Two adults and several children escaped, but two children died in the fire, KMSP-TV, Minneapolis, reported.

One body was recovered Wednesday night, and another was recovered Thursday afternoon.

A firefighter was transported to a hospital in Mankato after he slipped on ice and was hit by a tanker truck.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
