ST. LOUIS, Dec. 4 (UPI) -- A Missouri lawyer who was a key figure in determining who almost killed an attorney with a bomb, has been missing for more than a month, officials say.
Jeffery M. Witt, 39, whose practice has been experiencing legal troubles, was last seen in late October, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Wednesday.
The Missouri Supreme Court temporarily suspended Witt's license Monday over allegations clients had not been able to reach him for weeks and that he failed to show up for court hearings.
Witt has 62 open cases in Missouri, authorities said, including four open federal civil cases, the newspaper reported.
Witt was reported missing Nov. 22, said a spokesman for the St. Louis police department. Fellow attorney Michael Downey said he had spoken to Witt since early October and he had heard from anyone who had seen him since late October.
Witt had approached federal investigators after he came to believe his client, Milton "Skip" Ohlsen III, was responsible for the mistaken-identity bombing of a lawyer's car in Clayton in 2008.
