FREMONT, Ohio, Nov. 29 (UPI) -- Multiple fatalities were reported Thursday when the driver of a speeding vehicle on the Ohio Turnpike hit a van that burst into flames, police said.

WTOL-TV, Toledo, reported all three westbound lanes were shut down west of Fremont after the accident.

Ohio State Highway Patrol said a 24-year-old traveling from the Kent area was speeding up to 125 miles per hour and hit at least three other vehicles over a 17-mile stretch, finally hitting a van at about 7:15 p.m. The van burst into flames and everyone on board was killed, the TV station said.

The driver of the car was being treated at a hospital with minor injuries.
