Armed man threatening suicide at Verizon store in La Crescenta, Calif.

LA CRESCENTA, Calif., Nov. 29 (UPI) -- Police evacuated a shopping center in La Crescenta, Calif., Friday and were involved in a standoff with an armed man threatening suicide, authorities said.

Sheriff's deputies responded to a 4 p.m. call of an armed man alone inside a Verizon Wireless store at the Marketplace Shopping Center in the 2600 block of Foothill Boulevard, a spokesman for the Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Station told KTLA-TV, Los Angeles.
