EquuSearch drops complaint against Casey Anthony for $75,000

ORLANDO, Fla., Nov. 26 (UPI) -- A Florida bankruptcy judge has approved Casey Anthony's settlement with Texas EquuSearch, the group that searched Central Florida for her 2-year-old daughter.

EquuSearch has agreed to drop its complaint concerning its $75,000 claim, which the company argued should have survived her bankruptcy, The Orlando Sentinel reported.

The group's attorneys said it spent more than $100,000 searching for Caylee while Casey Anthony knew she was already dead.

The settlement does not require Anthony to admit liability.

"While many have debated whether Casey Anthony will ever financially profit from Caylee's death, one thing is certain; the time and money that [EquuSearch] must spend to pursue these claims are being taken from other families that really need their help," EquuSearch lawyers said in a statement.

Anthony's bankruptcy filing included more than $792,000 in debt and less than $1,100 in assets.

EquuSearch may still receive a portion of funds found in Anthony's estate, the Sentinel reported.

Two other creditors, Zenaida Gonzalez and Roy Kronk, have pending complaints against Anthony, who was found not guilty of murder in her daughter's death.
