Man charged with burning teen's dead body in backyard fire pit

Nov. 21, 2013 at 2:26 PM

JANESVILLE, Wis., Nov. 21 (UPI) -- A Wisconsin man was charged with hiding and mutilating a corpse after he allegedly burned a missing teenager's body in a fire pit, prosecutors said.

Nathan Middleton, 29, of Evansville, Wis., was charged with the two felonies Wednesday, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.

Rock County Court records indicate Middleton told police he met Aprina Paul, 18, of neighboring Dane County, through an online sex advertisement, smoked pot and used another, unspecified, drug with her Oct. 27.

Middleton told investigators he discovered her dead the next morning, built a fire pit in his back yard and burned her body, prosecutors said.

He has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Dec. 18.
