OKLAHOMA CITY, Nov. 20 (UPI) -- The disappearance of an Oklahoma woman and her presumed death, and the deaths of her husband and daughter, are the work of a religious cult, her mother claims.
Connie Kokotan of Oklahoma City made the claims after Kitna, Okla., authorities said they recovered the bodies of two adults and a child over the weekend near where a truck belonging to Bobby and Sherilyn Jamison was found abandoned in 2009.
Kokotan, 63, Sherilyn Jamison's mother, said, "Just like I said from the very beginning, I think someone killed them," she said of her daughter, son-in law and granddaughter Madyson, 6, adding her daughter was on a "hit list" maintained by an unidentified religious cult operating in southeast Oklahoma, the Oklahoman reported Wednesday..
After the family's disappearance, their church pastor revealed the Jamisons were engaged in spiritual warfare with ghosts at their lake house, and reports surfaced of a storage container found at the home containing witchcraft-related items, the Oklahoman reported.
"That part of Oklahoma is known for that, cults and stuff like that, from what I've been told and what I've read. I was told that she (Sherilyn Jamison) was on a cult's hit list," Kokotan said.
Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation officials said nothing was found at the scene of the discovery of the bodies to help identify the victims, the report said.
