ARLINGTON, Va., Nov. 13 (UPI) -- The former head of the unit investigating sexual assaults in the Air Force was acquitted Wednesday in Arlington, Va., of assault and battery.
Before the acquittal, The Washington Post reported, Barry Coburn, Lt. Col. Jeffrey Krusinski's attorney, pointed out to the jury what he called inconsistencies in the alleged victim's account.
Air Force Times reported Krusinski's not guilty plea came Tuesday shortly before a 23-year-old Treasury Department employee, a transsexual, testified the former chief of the Air Force's Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Unit grabbed her buttocks as she was coming out of a bar May 5 and asked, "Did you like it?"
She responded by hitting Krusinski repeatedly, a prosecutor said in an opening statement.
Krusinski was head of the unit at the time of his arrest.
"I feel someone come up behind me -- their chest is to my back," the alleged victim said, "and they firmly grab my rear end as they're walking by, and they ask me if I like it." Stars and Stripes said the woman broke down in tears during her testimony in Arlington County Circuit Court.
Krusinski, 42, was first charged with sexual battery, but prosecutors changed that to misdemeanor assault and battery.
